Moving through the all of it, together - A group for new mothers
Becoming a mother can be quite an intense time - so much to navigate and feel, so much change and letting go. It can also be pretty isolating, especially during these times of increased distance and isolation already.
How do we know we’re doing the right thing when there is so much newness? How do we stayed tuned into ourselves and our babies? And what about the moments when we’re so overwhelmed with it all? How do we care for ourselves during this time?
Join me, Twyla Kowalenko, a facilitator and mother, along with other new mothers as we connect to ourselves and each other during this beautiful and intense time of being with our babies. When my son was an infant, the highlight of my entire week was my Friday morning writing group with other mothers. Even though each of our experiences was unique, I felt seen and connected by getting to share my experience and hearing about others’.
As new motherhood is generally a time where any hope of a consistent schedule or routine is out the window, we will gather twice a week over zoom. Our gatherings welcome you to come as you are - even if that means your baby is in the middle of a melt-down, you don’t know the last time you showered, and may be ready to bite someone’s head off or burst into tears. This is a lovingly held space where you don’t have to pretend to be any other way than where you are right in the moment, in the beautiful messiness of it. It is a place where we’re invited to embrace our full humanity, our bodies, cultivating deeper trust, compassion and connection.
In our gatherings, I will offer and facilitate space and sharing, as well as invite us into activities to connect to and honour ourselves and our bodies in ways that we can make work no matter what state or situation we’re in. Additionally we’ll have a closed facebook group for the mothers participating where we can continue to connect and share between sessions.
