The Mother’s Well
A circle for mothers to pause, reconnect, and refuel
What if spending time gave you more time?
This weekly in-person circle for moms is more than just a break.
It’s your chance to build calm, clarity and capacity. Through simple grounding practices, writing and sharing, you’ll leave with more energy for the week ahead, making everything else feel a little easier
Why This Matters
Motherhood is full-on. Between meeting everyone else’s needs, juggling endless tasks, and holding the invisible load, it’s easy to feel depleted — like you’re running on fumes and don’t have a moment that’s just for you.
Much of the time we don’t have the luxury of stepping away. Even when we get a short break, the demands start piling up again as soon as we return.
What most of us need isn’t just time “off.” We need tools to feel calmer and more capable while we’re in the thick of it — when the baby is crying, when dinner’s burning, when your to-do list is endless.
The Mother’s Well is where we practice that. Together, we explore simple ways to come back to ourselves, refill our capacity, and carry that steadiness into daily life.
This isn’t about escaping motherhood. It’s about feeling more grounded, responsive, and resourced within it. Because things feel easier and take less time when we do.
You don’t need to prepare or show up a certain way. You just arrive — exactly as you are.
What Happens in a Session
Each 90-minute gathering includes:
Easeful guided awareness practices — simple attentional cues that calm your nervous system and help you feel more spacious and supported. (No movement, meditation, or experience needed)
Reflective writing prompt — a few minutes to put pen to paper and hear your own voice again.
Group sharing — honest, supportive conversation with other moms who get it.
Tea + snacks — because nourishment is part of the practice.
You’ll leave not just refreshed, but with practical tools you can bring into the hundreds of other hours in your week.
Who It’s For
This circle is for mothers of all stages — new, seasoned, or in-between — who want:
A weekly exhale
More ease in the middle of the daily juggle
Ways to respond rather than react when things feel overwhelming
Nourishment that actually lasts beyond the 90 minutes
Connection with other women who get it
To feel more like themselves again
Children are welcome — this space is designed with the realities of motherhood in mind. Our small group format and pre-registration will allow us to help you care for you child (and give you a bit of space)

“Twyla has a very calm and supportive energy. The guided meditation put me in a relaxed and peaceful state. She was able to suggest writing prompts that were relevant to what I was experiencing with my child. I was able to take my time writing what I needed, without feeling rushed. She listens with a compassionate and non-judgmental ear. She is authentic and truly cares about helping other moms.”
Meet your facilitator, Twyla Kowalenko MSW PhD
Hi Mamas! As of mother of three - an infant, toddler, and teenager - I know how full-on parenting can be. As a sensitive, I also know how quickly my resources can get depleted. I’m grateful that I’ve learned to prioritise myself - to really understand what I need and what fuels me. And this wasn’t easy - it took some unwinding of old beliefs and patterns that caring for myself was selfish. Because that’s BS. I know when I’m empty, there isn’t anything left to give. And I want to show up for what matters to me.
As an older mom, people often ask if mothering is harder now than when I was young. But it’s the opposite. Because I take much better care of myself now and have stopped apologising for that. Keeping a sense of balance is number one for me and I love encouraging my friends and clients to do the same!
Check out my bio if you want to read more about my credentials and experience. TLDR: I’m an embodied educator and facilitator with over 25 years experience, education, and training and founder of Soma’ing.
